Beaver Scouts – Discovering, Learning and Having Fun

Beaver Scouts is the section for young people aged 6–8, and it’s where curiosity, confidence and adventure really begin to grow. Across our District, Beaver Colonies provide a fun, safe and welcoming environment where young people can try new things, make friends and start their Scouting journey.

Beavers take part in a wide range of activities designed to be exciting, hands-on and age-appropriate. From outdoor adventures and creative crafts to games, visits and simple challenges, every meeting offers something new. Along the way, Beavers learn important life skills such as teamwork, communication and problem-solving, while building confidence and independence.

The Beaver programme is built around exploration and participation. Young people are encouraged to have a say in what they do, helping shape activities around their interests and ideas. Whether they’re learning about the world around them, getting active, helping others or earning badges, Beavers are always discovering new skills and talents.

Being a Beaver Scout is also about belonging. Wearing their uniform with pride, Beavers are part of a global movement that values friendship, respect and helping others. Camps, sleepovers and district events give Beavers exciting opportunities to challenge themselves, try something different and create lasting memories.

For families, Beaver Scouts offers a positive and supportive space where children can grow socially and emotionally while having fun. For our District, Beaver Scouts play a vital role in building strong foundations for the future of Scouting and preparing young people for their next adventure in Cubs.
