Scouts – Challenge, Adventure and Leadership
The Scouts section, for young people aged 10½–14, is where adventure becomes bigger, bolder and more challenging. Across our District, Scout Troops provide opportunities for young people to develop independence, confidence and leadership skills while enjoying unforgettable experiences.
Scouts take part in a huge variety of activities, from camping, hiking and climbing to pioneering, water activities and community projects. The programme encourages young people to step outside their comfort zones, work as a team and discover what they are capable of achieving. Every activity is designed to be exciting, rewarding and full of opportunities to learn new skills.
At the heart of Scouts is adventure and personal growth. Young people are encouraged to take responsibility, make decisions and contribute ideas to help shape their programme. Through badges, awards and outdoor experiences, Scouts build resilience, problem-solving abilities and practical life skills that stay with them far beyond Scouting.
Scout Troops also help young people become active members of their community. By working together, supporting others and embracing new challenges, Scouts develop values of respect, teamwork and responsibility. District camps, competitions and events create opportunities to meet others, build friendships and create lasting memories.
For families, Scouts offers a positive environment where young people can grow in confidence and independence while having fun. For our District, the Scout section continues to play a key role in inspiring the next generation of capable, caring and adventurous young people.
